Real Talk: The Story Behind Wiggle, The Female-Friendly Sex Shop in Cyprus

We’re three years into Wiggle, and every day I am reminded why we started a female-

friendly Sex Shop in Cyprus. So let’s go back to where it all began. 

Ironically, it started when I was pregnant. I was preparing for my first child and trying to source products to support my recovery after birth. And I was underwhelmed by what I could find in Cyprus. Fast forward a few years; I am two years postpartum. I am finally feeling a little more like me, have time to focus on my wellbeing, I’ve had some sleep, and it feels like a good time to reconnect with my husband and have some fun. So I went looking for menstrual cups, lubricant and sex toys and the shopping experience I had was an eye-opener. 

Is this what’s on offer in Cyprus for sexual wellness and intimate health? My health and my pleasure felt like a taboo, something I shouldn’t talk about, let alone want to shop for. It was either pharmacies or back-street shops, and very little online. 

And I kept saying to my husband, surely there are other women in Cyprus like me. Cyprus didn't have a female-focused sex shop that got it; somewhere a woman could shop for postpartum recovery, intimate health products and sexual wellness items, somewhere accessible, discreet and with a selection of products women actually wanted and needed. So we said, fine, let's build it ourselves.

Discreet was non-negotiable from day one. A classic sex shop offering was needed, but I knew I wanted Wiggle to cater for the full life cycle of a woman; from periods to pregnancy, postpartum to perimenopause and beyond. The name means a lot to me. Becoming a mum made this feel more urgent. My body's gone through so many stages already, with plenty more ahead. I wanted Wiggle to grow with women, not just sell to them.
